Implantology is the field of dentistry that is dedicated to replacing lost teeth by means of dental implants. Implants are titanium screws that are inserted into the maxillary or mandibular bone, which act as an artificial root of the tooth. These screws are biocompatible, that is, they do not cause rejection by the organism.

The dental implant technique has become increasingly popular due to technological advances in the field of implantology. Dental implants offer a series of advantages over conventional dental prostheses, such as greater comfort and stability, and the possibility of chewing and speaking more safely and naturally.

Dental implants are also an option for patients who have lost several or even all teeth, as they can be used in different situations, from replacing a single tooth to complete oral rehabilitation.

It is important to emphasise that the placement of dental implants requires detailed planning and careful patient assessment in order to determine whether the patient is a suitable candidate for the technique. It is therefore essential to seek a professional who specialises in implantology to carry out the procedure.

If you have lost teeth and wish to recover your self-esteem and quality of life, implantology may be the ideal solution for your case.

Clinical Director Dr. Paloma Rios is responsible for all the Implantology treatments in the Clinic, guaranteeing the excellence of the results.

In order to give substance to all this know-how and technical expertise, we created the Paloma Rios Dental Implants Experience, because that is what it is all about: a unique experience in the world of dental implants.

To have an implant, it is necessary to have healthy gums and bones suitable to receive it.

No. However, adequate bone formation may not occur in the implant rugosities due to the quality or quantity of bone in height or thickness. If the implant does not fix to the bone another procedure can be performed in the same region.

The placing of a dental implant usually does not cause pain, as the patient is anaesthetised beforehand. The dental implant operation is almost always carried out under local anaesthetic, except in the case of zygomatic implants, where it is carried out under general anaesthetic.

Postoperatively, there may be a slight discomfort, a small inflammation and oedema of the area where the surgery was performed. In very exceptional cases, these symptoms may be more accentuated and require medication to reduce the discomfort.

Treatments with implants do not last forever, just like any other rehabilitative treatment in Dental Medicine. However, with recent technological advances, you can expect implants to last for more than 15 years, and in the case of prostheses that are supported on implants, a minimum of 10 years is an acceptable period of time. In any case, always remember that when there is any infectious pathology or mechanical problem in the implant-prosthesis set, this estimated duration period is drastically reduced. However, it is important to mention that these problems occur almost exclusively in cases of poor maintenance of this type of treatment. It is advisable to carry out check-ups with a maximum interval of 6 months.

Smoking reduces the vascularisation of the bone and gums, delays the healing processes and increases the risk of infections. It is clearly proven in scientific literature that implants in patients who smoke have a higher failure rate.
